The Braves enter play with a 12-16 record, hoping to right the ship against the Nationals and return to the form they enjoyed on their most recent homestand. Getting the ball for game one in Washington will be right-hander Huascar Ynoa, who has significantly outperformed expectations this season. He owns a 2-1 record along with a 2.96 ERA, and has 34 strikeouts in 27.1 innings.
Ynoa has been a revelation for an Atlanta rotation that has been among the worst in baseball, and without his outstanding start to the season the Braves would be in significantly worse shape than they are already. He has even managed to collect four hits, including a homer, in ten at-bats. He will look to extend his run of excellence against the Nationals tonight, and will throw to William Contreras after primarily working with Alex Jackson thus far.
