Forrest Wall is also in the lineup for the Braves.
The Atlanta Braves are facing the Detroit Tigers in what will be Max Fried’s first ever appearance against them.
Brian Snitker has been shaking up the lineup a bit as of late, and it seems to be working. Before the reigning MVP went down for the year, it was almost guaranteed that you would see the same lineup every night. The only difference was if there was a lefty starter or a righty starter.
Unfortunately, these lineup shakeups have been due to further injuries with Michael Harris out for an extended period of time. That being said, the Braves just scored six or more runs in four straight games for the first time all season.
With Forrest Wall being called up today, there was a question of what the starting outfield would look like against a RHP SP, especially with Duvall struggling mightily against them. Against RHP starters this year, Duvall has struggled to a .127/.236/.175. To be fair, his BABIP has been .191 showing that he has been unfortunate, but that is not enough to justify the poor stat line. If you factor in RPs as well, his slash line is even worse.
The lineup has dropped and answered that question. The outfield will feature Forrest Wall in LF, Adam Duvall in RF, and Jarred Kelenic in CF. This indicates that for the time being that Wall was not brought up for any type of platoon role with Duvall.

This lineup will be facing off against Reese Olson, who is in the second season of his young career. He has a solid 3.68 in 71.0 innings over thirteen starts. His xERA backs up his ERA showing it has not been a fluke. Olson has also been an example of how a pitcher’s win-loss record is an outdated stat with a 1-8 record despite having an adjusted ERA that is that is 12.0 percent better than league average.
No Brave has faced Reese Olson more than two at-bats. Albies, Arcia, and Kelenic have both had a hit off of him, while Matt Olson, Riley, and d’Arnaud are hitless in two at-bats a piece.
Shockingly, Max Fried has never faced the Tigers in his eight-year career, so many of the players on the Tigers have never faced him. Mark Canha has had the most success against him. In fourteen at-bats, Canha has two HRs, while maintaining a 1.161 OPS.
Carson Kelly has seen Fried for eight at-bats but has struggled to an OPS of .625. It is possible that this is why he did not get the start. Gio Urshela has only had two at-bats, in which he has a .000 average. Matt Vierling who has nine at-bats against Fried with a .333 average and .744 OPS is leading off.

First pitch is at 7:20 ET.
