The Braves will be looking to put Saturday’s tough loss behind them.

The old adage is that in baseball you have to put the losses behind you quickly because there is always another game tomorrow. That is the scenario the Atlanta Braves will face when they wrap up a three-game series against the Washington Nationals Sunday at Truist Park.

The Braves were three outs away from a season-best fifth straight win Saturday night but a two-run home run by Riley Adams off of Will Smith in the ninth sent them to a crushing 3-2 loss. While the focus was deservingly on the bullpen, Atlanta’s offense managed just two runs and five hits and were 1-for-6 with runners in scoring position in the loss.

Freddie Freeman left Saturday’s after the first inning with what was deemed an upper respiratory infection. Brian Snitker said after the game that Freeman wasn’t feeling well all day but wanted to try and play. He experienced some dizziness after running around in the first inning and had to come out fo the game. Snitker is hopeful that Freeman will be ready to play Sunday but they will have to wait and see how he is feeling prior to the game.

Max Fried will be on the mound for Atlanta and will try to build off of a strong outing in his last start. Fried allowed four hits and struck out seven over six scoreless last time out against the Cardinals. He has struggled in three starts against Washington this season allowing a combined 18 hits and 10 runs in 10 2/3 innings.

Patrick Corbin will get the start for the Nationals and is still looking to right the ship in what has been a tough season. Corbin allowed six hits and four runs over seven innings in his last start against the Phillies. He has allowed at least four earned runs in five of his last six starts. He faced the Braves back on June 3 where he allowed six hits and four runs in 5 1/3 innings.

Sunday’s game is scheduled to get underway at 1:20 p.m. ET and can be seen on Bally Sports Southeast.
