The league’s investigation continues.

Major League Baseball along with the MLBPA has extended Atlanta Braves outfielder Marcell Ozuna’s administrative leave through September 24 according to a report by The Athletic’s David O’Brien. Ozuna was placed on leave on September 10 and that would have expired today.

Not much has changed here since the last update. The league’s investigation continues into the incident and Ozuna is still likely facing a suspension once it completes. He last appeared in court virtually on September 9 where he entered into a negotiated resolution that will require him to be placed on six months of supervision and undergo a 24-week family violence intervention program. If Ozuna completes all of his requirements, then all of the charges could be dropped in as soon as three months.

Major League Baseball and the Player’s Association can continue to extend Ozuna’s administrative leave if more time is needed for the investigation. Trevor Bauer’s leave was extended multiple times this summer and was most recently extended through the remainder of the 2021 regular season.
