Atlanta welcomes back its superstar outfielder.
Ronald Acuña, Jr. returns after almost one year away due to a knee injury as the Atlanta Braves welcome the San Diego Padres in rematch of the season’s opening series. Atlanta comes home after winning their road series in Boston against the Red Sox before the team was swept in a disappointing, rain-shortened, two-game match-up against the Washington Nationals.
But that’s not what’s important, because one-third of the way through the 2025 campaign, Atlanta finally adds the 2023 National League MVP to their line-up with the hope that Acuña, Jr. can bolster the team’s inconsistent offense.
The Braves have been hovering around the .500 mark for the last several weeks while the Padres have been in a free-fall during the last week. San Diego still holds a better record than Atlanta but sits in a similar spot in the NL West as the Braves do in the NL East – third place.
The Braves were swept in San Diego to open the season – dropping all four games – so this return engagement offers Atlanta an opportunity to exact some revenge against the Friars.
Despite this being Memorial Day weekend, the Braves have a scheduled off-day on Monday.
Here are the start times for each of this weekend’s games against the Padres.
- Friday, May 23 – 7:15PM EDT
- Saturday, May 24 – 4:10PM EDT
- Sunday, May 25 – 4:10PM EDT
