Despite everybody else getting a significant head start on him, Ronald Acuña Jr. has been voted into the MLB All-Star Game as a starter.
The votes are in when it comes to MLB All-Star Game balloting to decide the starters for both the American League and the National League’s starters. Despite having started the season on the IL as he was still recovering from a torn ACL costing him most of the 2024 season, Ronald Acuña Jr. hit the ground running upon his return and has surged in All-Star voting to the point where he has essentially played his way into the starting lineup for the Midsummer Classic at Truist Park in a couple of weeks.

Acuña ended the first phase of voting just one spot on the outside looking in in fourth place but thanks to his continued excellent performance on the field, fans continued to shower him with votes and helped push him to the top of the NL leaderboard when it came to All-Star votes for outfielders. Heading into Wednesday’s action, Acuña was hitting .350/.467/.610 with 9 home runs and 198 wRC+ over 35 games and 150 plate appearances, good for 2.0 fWAR for the season already.
This will be Acuña’s fifth time being an All-Star (2019, 2021, 2022 and 2023) and on top of that, this will also be the third time he’s participated in the Home Run Derby (2019 and 2022) so we’re going to get a ton of Acuña during the All-Star festivities being held in Atlanta this season. It honestly would’ve been a shame if none of the Atlanta Braves players made it into the starting lineup for the All-Star Game considering how many All-Stars are currently on Atlanta’s roster but fortunately, Acuña’s superstar performance has helped make sure that the Braves will be represented on the field once the umpire yells out “Play Ball” to begin the All-Star Game.
We’ll see if anybody else from Atlanta (other than Brian Snitker) joins him as they continue to flesh out the roster but for now, the face of Atlanta’s franchise will be representing the Braves in full force once the big event rolls around.
