The lineups have been released for this middle game of the three-game series between the Atlanta Braves and the Arizona Diamondbacks. If you’re a fan of a slight reshuffle and seeing the same players in slightly different positions in the lineup, then boy do I have news for you!
Anyways, here’s how the Braves are looking:

As you can probably tell from the introduction and the headline, there’s not a lot going on here in terms of change. The biggest question now is whether or not it’s time to really start entertaining the idea of potentially just sticking Drake Baldwin out there in left field and hoping for the best. It’s not like you can just sub out Baldwin for Sean Murphy in the depth chart, either, since Murphy deserves to be in the lineup every day with his production (.221/.326/.475, .352 wOBA, 9 home runs, 124 wRC+) as well.
It’s tough leaving Baldwin’s production out of the lineup on any given night and Atlanta’s outfield production (or lack therof) has gotten to the point where sticking Baldwin out there really wouldn’t be such a horrible risk to consider. Who knows how they’ll address this issue but they’ve got to figure it out at some point because Baldwin’s level of performance is getting to where you’ve got to have him in the lineup every night. The sooner this gets figured out, the sooner this lineup can start to really get going, I hope.
Anyways, that’s enough speculation from me. Here’s Arizona’s lineup:

The Diamondbacks are going with a different look with their lineup, and I’d imagine it has to do with preparing for a lefty (Chris Sale) instead of a right-hander (Spencer Strider). Despite all the shuffling, the only two new players to enter the lineup for Arizona when compared to last night’s lineup are Randal Grichuk as the Designated Hitter and Tim Tawa as the center fielder. Other than that, everybody else is in their usual spot — in the field, at least.
