He’s had one meh outing and one bad outing
Didier Fuentes is now two starts deep in his major league career. His first outing was okay, and ended up looking blah because he got appropriately punished on a really bad hanger. His second start was just kind of a mess overall. Two starts in, the pitch models continue to be big fans, but his command was much, much worse against the Mets than in his debut, and my big concern remains that for whatever reason, there is a giant discrepancy between the quality of his pitches and the ability of those pitches to miss bats.
Anyway, we could probably argue about specifics all day, but fundamentally, you and the Braves both have a question as to whether he makes his next turn in the rotation. A big part of the answer to that question? What alternatives the Braves even have. Bryce Elder is already back to being a full-fledged rotation member and any dream of Grant Holmes becoming a superb fireman are similarly dead for the time being. Would Nathan Wiles, Hurston Waldrep, or someone like Drue Hackenberg be any better than running Fuentes out there?
