Upon Ronald Acuña’s return, I was just assuming that Eli White would have gotten the vast majority of the starts. I assumed wrong, as Alex Verdugo manned left field last night. I just assumed that with White outhitting, outfielding, and outrunning Verdugo that White would start. Verdugo has a .295/.354/.386 line versus right hand pitching this year with a 109 wRC+. But White is hitting righties to the tune of a 124 wRC+ as well. You’re allowing a below-replacement player hit fifth, Snit.
Maybe it just a question to Brian Snitker here, but are we really giving Alex Verdugo the fat part of the platoon in left field? Is this a one-off or the way forward?
