Well that didn’t go as planned.
In very 2025 Braves’ fashion, what looked like a really fun matchup in Bristol Motor Speedway between flamethrowing starters, Spencer Strider and Chase Burns turned into a massively delayed mud bowl with the Braves opting for a bullpen game instead of Strider after the delay. Even the Austin Cox start was short-lived, as he gave up a run on three grounders in the first inning before the tarp came back out and the game was eventually suspended until 1pm ET on Sunday. Not quite the showcase that the Braves or the league were looking for, but we’ll see what they can do to salvage it tomorrow.
