Atlanta will try to get back on track Sunday.
The Atlanta Braves saw their four-game winning streak come to an end Saturday night in painful fashion as they saw a two-run lead slip away in the ninth of a 3-2 loss to the Washington Nationals. The Braves fall to 56-55 on the season and are two games behind the Phillies for the division lead.

- Freddie Freeman left Saturday’s loss after the first inning as a precaution for what was called an upper respiratory infection. Brian Snitker said after the game that Freeman wasn’t feeling well before Saturday’s game and was worse after it began. He is hopeful he will be well enough to play Sunday but that isn’t a certainty.

- The Red Sox placed slugger J.D. Martinez on the COVID-19 list Saturday. Martinez joins rookie outfielder Jarren Duran who was placed on the list Friday. Martinez hasn’t tested positive but was reportedly having symptoms. The Red Sox are one of the teams that are still below the 85% vaccination rate.
- The Yankees placed closer Aroldis Chapman on the 10-day injured list with elbow inflammation Saturday. Chapman last pitched on Thursday when he tossed a scoreless inning against the Orioles.
- There still isn’t a target date for Fernando Tatis Jr’s return from a shoulder injury but he is improving rapidly and there is optimism that he won’t need season ending surgery.
- The Brewers activated outfielder Christian Yelich from the COVID list Saturday. Milwaukee continues to deal with a number of COVID issues with seven players currently out due to positive tests or contact tracing. Yelich has been out since July 27.
- The Tigers announced Saturday that they have an agreement with infielder Jonathan Schoop on a two-year contract extension that is worth $15 million. The deal also contains an opt out after the 2022 season.
