Vogt starts at catcher as d’Arnaud nears activation

MLB: Tampa Bay Rays at Atlanta Braves
Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

Stephen Vogt is starting tonight. There will very likely be a new (or old?) face behind the catcher’s mask tomorrow night, though.

The lineups for tonight’s game between the Braves and Reds are now publicly available, so now it’s time to talk about them. Let’s get right into it, then!

As usual, let’s start with the Braves:

The lineup is your usual fare, and is probably as close to full strength as you’ll get for this current iteration of the Braves. They could be close to actually being as full strength as they can be at the moment, since Travis d’Arnaud is extremely close to returning to the Atlanta Braves after injuring his thumb earlier this season.

d’Arnaud will catch Ian Anderson in Gwinnett today and then be activated tomorrow.

That’s very good news. One could say that it’s almost as if the Braves are making a trade without actually having to gi— Okay, I’ll stop.

Here’s Cincinnati’s lineup:

The Reds have already had an interesting week, since they recently popped into Cleveland to make up a game from earlier this year. They lost that one and had to go into their bullpen relatively early, so that could be a factor in this game. Anyways, Shogo Akiyama is in the game playing center field after starting yesterday’s game from the bench.
