The Winter Meetings will wrap up Wednesday with the annual Rule 5 Draft.
Baseball’s Winter Meetings in Nashville are set to come to an end on Wednesday. The Atlanta Braves began the meetings Sunday night by acquiring outfielder Jarred Kelenic and two others from the Seattle Mariners in a five-player deal. Nothing else has materialized, but Alex Anthopoulos told the media Tuesday that they are still looking to add to the roster. Brian Snitker also had his media session and discussed the offseason and where the coaching staff stands after the loss of Ron Washington, Eric Young Sr. and Drew French.
The second annual Draft Lottery took place Tuesday with the Cleveland Guardians getting the first overall pick. The Atlanta Braves will have the 24th pick in the first round.
The Rule 5 Draft will close out the Winter Meetings Wednesday. The Braves opted not to protect any of their eligible players from the Rule 5 Draft. They have plenty of 40-man roster space to make a selection, but that player would have to stick on the active roster for the entire season or be offered back to his previous club.
We will be following along with all of the events Wednesday so be sure to check back for updates throughout the day.
