Class of 2027 prospect O’Neal Delancy shines in Peach Jam play

NORTH AUGUSTA, SC–Playing with an abundance of energy, knocking down consecutive shots and sparking runs, Class of 2027 Florida Rebels guard O’Neal Delancy has been one of the most consistent all around scoring threats at Peach Jam thus far.

Delancy, a 6-foot-3 off guard who erupted for a 35-point game on the strength of a scalding 8-for-12 from 3-point range during a 75-56 win over Nightrydas in 16U action, was able to prolong his scoring pace with a 22-point performance.

The smooth combo guard is able to knife his way to the rim gracefully. He has pioneered the pace as the primary ball handler and shown a knack for creating plays.

He was recently offered by newly minted Miami head coach Jai Lucas, who has assembled a staff with strong recruiting ties across the Florida area.

Florida State, Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Maryland, South Florida, and several of others have offered the stock rising prospect out of Gibbs HS in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Similar to Zakai Ziegler (Tennessee) at Peach Jam several years ago, Delancy has come out of the gates hot, seized the hot hand, and shown no sign of relinquishing it.

“Right now, Florida State is recruiting me the hardest,” said Delancy, who will inherit some ownership of a Gibbs team which garnered a berth in the 4A State title game.

Gibbs averaged 24.8 points, 4.8 boards and 3.5 assists through the recent four game slate this past weekend, shooting 43.2 percent from beyond the arc.

“I’m taking more of a leadership role on the (Gibbs HS) team, being more of an active talker and an anchor,” Gibbs said.

“An anchor to score and make plays for my teammates. My energy and passion for the game is what separates me as a player and a competitor.”
