Tech gets #1 seed in ACC Tournament
Powered by a 4-4 day by Drew Burress, Tech Baseball got the results they needed on Saturday afternoon around the ACC to on top of their 8-2 win over #20 Duke to clinch the ACC regular season title for the first time since 2005, the fifth time they’ve done so under Danny Hall (1997, 2000, 2004, 2005, 2025).
As previously announced, this is Danny Hall’s final season as Georgia Tech Baseball’s head coach, and their best season in over a decade is coming just at the right time. Their 39-16 record thus far is tied for their best in the last 15 years (2019).
Brady Jones again had a fantastic start, pitching five innings of four hit ball continuing his great season. His ERA sits at 3.80, the best of any Tech starting pitcher since Connor Thomas’ 3.11 ERA in 2019 (as of 16 starts for both players).
At the end of the regular season, Tech ranks 1st in the ACC in hits and doubles, Drew Burress finishing with a conference leading 23 doubles.
On the pitching side, Mason Patel has the fourth lowest ERA of all eligible pitchers at 2.85, is tied for first in wins with 11, has allowed the second fewest runs and earned runs, allowed the fewest walks (12), and has the fourth lowest opponent average in the ACC.
Tech will head back to Durham, NC this week for the ACC Tournament. As the #1 seed, they receive a double bye straight to the quarterfinal. Miami and Cal will play in the first round to face Wake Forest, and then the winner of that game will face Tech in the quarters on Thursday at 3pm.

In our latest projections, we had Tech as a 2-seed travelling to Coastal Carolina’s regional. Now that Tech has a conference title as an unranked team, the debate certainly must heighten for the selection committee. If Tech were to follow this up with at least a finals appearance in the ACC Tournament, their case would get much, much better to host a regional.
