Some basketball outlooks going into the end of the regular season
Sent via email: What do we know about Mouhamed Sylla? He seems like one of the more exciting basketball recruits we’ve had in a while. Are we starting to build a pipeline out of Senegal?
Jack: We’re hoping for some big defense from him and possibly the best paint presence we’ve had since Moses Wright. Most of the hype is of course on his upside right now since we haven’t seen him play tough and dirty ACC games, but at worst it gives us somebody to build around, plus if he actually starts next year, a great pair with Ndongo.
On Senegal, I guess there is somewhat of a pipeline? Sometimes this just happens, but it’s not unlike Tech to pick off some folks from a particular area (WBB: Spain, Swim & Dive: Turkey, Volleyball: Brazil).
Yeller Bug: What’s the tournament forecast for our B-ball teams?
Jack: Simple for the men: they have to win the ACC Tournament to make it. The women are squarely in already by merit. They will likely be a 5 or 6 seed. If they want to get into a top 4 spot and host, they might also need to win the ACC Tournament and get past some really good teams.
