Partywaggin: I mentioned this to the @GTPAINN account on X/Twitter, but is anyone worried that Coach404 might be one of those good coordinator/bad HC guys?
Ben: See, I’m not sold on Collins as a defensive coordinator. I think he’s more a product of the player talent he had at each of his stops. That would explain why every time he “stepped in to take more control of the defense,” it never actually got any better while he was at Tech. Also, it’s generally just hard for me to believe he is in any way a competent football coach or a serious human being.
Jack: I just don’t believe any of it is going to go well at UNC for a number of reasons. Adding Collins to that mix just isn’t good for anyone. I’m sure he knows some football, but we saw what he was loud and clear, and a good pure coach isn’t that.
Jake: I’m with Jack and Ben. I think he had some good talent around him at some of the DC stops, and nothing I have seen come across my feed since he got to Chapel Hill indicates that he has shifted focus away from brand and back to coaching football.
DressHerInWhiteAndGold: Mutombo? What say we all? Shot block anyone?
Ben: I’m here for it. I don’t know much about him, but I like having the name recognition.
Jack: Doesn’t seem like he’ll start or anything like that, but depth is depth. We’ve got more promising guys that will see far more minutes than him. Getting the Mutombo’s in McCamish though I’m sure will be a net positive in some way even if it’s not directly on the court.
Jake: I think there’s potential for him to see some playing time, and he’s kind of a blank slate almost. At the very least, it will be good for general interest and notability.
