Oh so close to a podium and some ACC quarterbacking

The mailbag is brought to you by Section 103, home of the most unique and comfortable Georgia Tech apparel. Get 10 percent off your next order with coupon code FTRS to order items such as the Haynes King Jersey T-Shirt in preparation for COFH, which is somehow on a Friday now.

Partywaggin: Since we lost to F$U, but won the individual Natty, did we end up 3rd overall in Men’s Golf?

Jack: Sadly there isn’t a 3rd place podium spot in the team event, just in the individual portion. This season’s result will be NCAA Semifinalists.

Logan: 3rd place in our hearts… or something like that.

jabsterjacket: If the NFL and NBA are going to renegotiate all of its media rights with broadcasters, with all of the money streamers are waving at them, what does this mean for the ACC?

I can’t see this helping the ACC until the end of 2036, unless the Mou$e for some reason decides to not exercise their option, which I don’t see them doing if the ACC can get more money elsewhere.

Logan: I don’t think it changes things for the ACC at the moment. There is growing potential value on the sports market from streamers, but until ESPN decides whether or not they exercise their option the ACC is kind of stuck. Depending on how things play out with the F$U and Clempsun lawsuits ESPN may decide to not exercise the option. I think we’re just waiting on lawsuits while we watch money get thrown around.

After losing Acuña and Strider, will the Barves be in better shape for a postseason run as an underdog + wild card behind the Philthies? Blowing away the NL East hasn’t worked for the Bravos in the postseason.

Logan: I can’t say losing your best 2 players really puts you in better shape for anything. I will say that I have to believe the Brave’s bats will find life at some point, and if that occurs later in the season I think it gives us a good shot to go on a run. Chris Sale has been fantastic and Fried has been finding his stride so I don’t think we’re out of it, but we really need to find that 3rd good arm if we expect a late run in the playoffs.

Jack: Postseason shape is largely dependent on how a team is playing going into the postseason. Any team can suck in June but go on a heater in October and pull off a title. I will say I think the team will be ok with playing immediately in the playoffs instead of having that five day break that kills their momentum. Losing Ronald and Spencer is 100% not helpful though. You don’t just get rid of the NL MVP and presumed Cy Young winner and get better.

DressHerInWhiteAndGold: Is there any way; and how cool would it be; to link campus/BDS@HGF to the Beltline? Maybe an E/W corridor from Ponce City to Bankhead?

Jack: Look up The Stitch. That’s the closest thing to that coming.

Insert Name Here: Hey guys, hope y’all are doing well this week. Right now I’m enjoying all the hype for NCAA25 and general hype for the season. I’ve seen y’all talk a lot about Haynes King the past few weeks, but clearly people don’t view him as a top contender for Heisman, which means people are expecting more talented QBs than him in the NCAA. Who are the other QBs in the ACC of note and why should we take the seriously?

Logan: Preston Stone at SMU looked amazing last year with 3,197 yds passing and 28 TDs. I think Preston may struggle slightly more in the ACC but I do think he will still impress. Regarding teams we play I think that Cam Ward was a great pickup for Miami… but I’ve seen Miami squander bigger talent. DJ Uiagalelei is supposed to be a top QB, but that has yet to be seen as QB in the ACC. Grayson McCall is a fantastic QB at NC State who hasn’t been blessed with a great surrounding cast. Kyron Drones at VT is also a great passer and he could end the year as one of the best QBs in the ACC behind Haynes King.
