NCAA Baseball + Softball Tournament Projections, 5/8 Update

The USI still has GT softball in only by a slim margin

Things are starting to finally look right again for Georgia Tech Baseball after sweeping Western Carolina and winning both midweek games, giving the Jackets a five six game winning streak going into their final home series of the season against #20 Louisville. Last week, we had Georgia Tech still firmly in the field, but having lost their projected hosting spot after a seven game skid.

Across Fowler Street for the Softball team, they did not games scheduled in the final weekend of ACC play. The current projections does not include their win over Cal and loss to #8 Florida State in the ACC Tournament. They were a Last Four In team last week, and beating a projected at-large team in Cal surely will do some good lifting for Tech’s chances. That said, they are far enough back that they could end up on the outside looking in depending on how other conference tournaments finish.

If you’re new to the Universal Selection Index here at FTRS, we have our own NCAA Projection methodology created by Jake Grant: (USI), which has a 95% success rate of correctly predicting who will make the tournament field.
