Top-70 2026 prospect Kevin Thomas updates recruitment

July 19, 2025 by Zags Blog

By SAM LANCE

CARTERSVILLE, GA — Four-star prospect Kevin Thomas is one of the most explosive athletes in the 2026 class. The 6-foot-7 forward out of Sagemont Prep (FL) just switched AAU programs to SOH Elite on the Under Armour circuit, and he’s making the most of it.

In five games with SOH, Thomas has averaged 12.2 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.4 steals per game. He’s currently competing in Chicago at the UAA Finals.

“I like to playmake a lot, give my teammates the right plays, give them the right shots,” Thomas said of his game. “I’m trying to get to that two-way level, be a defender also.”

Thomas said his best attributes right now are shooting and playmaking. With his athleticism and long-armed frame, he has the capability to be an elite defender at the next level. That’s one aspect of his game he’s tried to show coaches this summer.

“That I can defend,” Thomas said. “Because I know it’s more intense on the higher level, in college, so I got to be ready to take that next big step.”

So far in his recruitment process, Thomas has taken unofficial visits to Georgia Tech, Miami and UCLA. He has officials set with Florida State (Aug. 29) and Auburn (Oct. 18). Those five are the programs mostly involved, and Thomas said he’s also been hearing from Tennessee.

The four-star wing broke down some of these schools to ZAGSBLOG:

Auburn: “Just kind of waiting to see what it will be like on the official visit. Trying to see how the environment and campus is, if its downtown or suburbs. I just can’t wait to see what that looks like. I know they produce a lot of wings. I think that would be a pretty good fit for me and my playstyle, with a wing type.”

Florida State: “I think it was time to take my first official one. Trying to see how the environment is with all the kids on campus, football games and everything. Seeing how the whole campus is. Still trying to learn more. I think I’m going to learn a lot more on campus once they take me on the official visit.”

Georgia Tech: “Georgia Tech was cool. It was kind of different seeing the whole environment in the downtown area. So that was kind of nice, I liked that.”

On Damon Stoudamire: “I know he was in the league. I got to learn more about their program, because it was a while since I’ve been on campus. It was like two years ago.”

Miami: “Miami was nice. Everything was getting rebuilt, they were changing some stuff, making everything newer. The new coaching staff is really cool. They’re all from the Miami area so they’re all connected from there. It was just a good experience getting to see all the practices and everything. They’re not trying to rebuild, I think they’re just building to be honest. They’re trying to make a winning program. They’re trying to get to the Final Four again like they did before.”

Tennessee: “They’ve been texting and keeping up with me. They’ll come to see me even more this weekend and in Chicago. They produce a lot of good wings. Dalton Knecht was a good prospect that came out of there.”

Loucks and assistants from Miami and Tennessee were spotted by ZAGSBLOG in Cartersville on Thursday, July 10 to watch Thomas.

The four-star is ranked the No. 66 overall prospect in the country by 247Sports.
