It’s been over 15 years since an SEC team wasn’t in contention for a national title, either as a College Football Playoff participant or as a BCS National Championship Game team. But Booger McFarland sees a path to that streak being broken.
Taking to X a short while ago, the ESPN analyst declared that if Michigan beats Iowa and Florida State beats Louisville and both go to 13-0, both Georgia and Alabama will miss the College Football Playoff.
“We are a Florida St and Michigan win away from both Georgia and Alabama being left out of the playoff,” he wrote.
But there was plenty of disagreement in his replies. Many fans are convinced (thanks to a decade and more of evidence) that the SEC will have at least one team in the College Football Playoff regardless of the outcome of those other two games:

“Not a chance…Mich and Bama in….FSU out and Georgia is in trouble not making it…it’s Texas, Washington, Uga fighting for 2 spots …I think uga gets left off,” one user replied.
“You sure the committee wouldn’t take Bama over an undefeated FSU? I’m not so sure! Think Texas is in though,” wrote another.
“That’s what it should be if that happens but the committee will not let that happen,” a third wrote.
Someone’s going to have an ax to grind in the next few hours though.
