Conference championship week is upon us, and that means we’re inching closer to finding out which four teams will square off in the College Football Playoff.
With that said, ESPN’s Heather Dinich ranked the most importance conference championship games.
Unsurprisingly, Dinich said the most important game this weekend is the SEC Championship. Alabama and Georgia will square off in a matchup that could shake up the CFP rankings.
If Alabama wins, there’s an argument to be made that Nick Saban’s squad deserves to be in the CFP. That would also complicate matters for Georgia, especially since the two-time defending champs aren’t locks to make it.
On the other hand, if Georgia defeats Alabama, that would make life a lot easier for the selection committee.
As of now, ESPN Analytics gives Georgia a 52.1 percent chance of defeating Alabama.

Dinich has the ACC Championship ranked second in order of importance this week. Florida State needs a win over Louisville to keep its undefeated season alive and potentially make the CFP.
In the event Louisville defeats Florida State, that would essentially knock the Seminoles out of the picture for the CFP. That could then open the door for a program like Oregon or Texas.
