Over the weekend, the Alabama Crimson Tide kept its undefeated season alive with a dominant performance over Southern Miss.
With the win, Alabama moved to 4-0 on the season and kept its spot at No. 1 in the AP and Coaches polls. However, despite the team’s dominant performance, it slipped to No. 2 in ESPN’s Football Power Index.
According to the new FPI rankings, Georgia is the No. 1 college football team in the country. Nick Saban and company fell to No. 2 following Georgia’s demolition of Vanderbilt this weekend.
The Bulldogs have outscored their opponents 168-23 and look to be the most dominant team in college football right now.
Here are the FPI scores:
Georgia – 26.8
Alabama – 26.3
Oklahoma – 18.9
Those scores show just how much better Georgia and Alabama have been than the No. 3 team in ESPN’s FPI: the Oklahoma Sooners.
The Bulldogs and Crimson Tide won’t meet until the SEC title game – if they make it that far, of course.
Which team should be No. 1?
