Four-star sophomore Jalan Wingfield updates recruit, talks Overtime and Auburn visits

December 24, 2023 by Zags Blog

Jalan Wingfield, a 6-foot-7 forward in the class of 2026, visited Auburn and Overtime in the last two weeks.

The Georgia native, who recently transferred to Tri-Cities High School (GA.), has also been in touch with Michigan, UConn, Florida State, Georgia Nebraska, USF, Georgia Tech and Cincinnati over the past few weeks.

Wingfield intends on visiting USF and Georgia Tech “very soon,” while Nebraska is the newest team to make a connection with the young forward.

He broke down some of his recent recruitment to ZAGSBLOG:

Overtime Elite (Dec. 22 visit): “I’m going to check it out and see what they’re talking about. I want to be a pro and they’ve produced some pros so I want to see it.”

Auburn (Dec. 15 visit): “They have a nice fan base, a good campus, and a really good coach. They’re saying I’d fit well in the program and play every position while taking the ball up the court.”

Florida State (Oct. visit): “It [the visit] was good. I think if I had to make a top-four right now, Florida State would be in it.”

UConn: “I love UConn. I talk to them, we’ve really just been introduced, but we are staying in touch.”

Georgia: “They’re supposed to be coming to the high school very soon, and I’m supposed to be going on an unofficial very soon.”

In terms of what Wingfield is trying to accomplish at his new school, he wants to develop his leadership and win state championships.

“I’m trying to bring more state championships there,” he said. “And I want to be a great leader for my team.”
