Somto Cyril, the 6-foot-10 Class of 2024 center from Overtime Elite, has committed to Georgia after obtaining his release from Kentucky, a source confirmed.
Cyril opted to decommit after John Calipari left Kentucky for Arkansas. He originally committed to Kentucky last June.
He also declared for the NBA Draft and will test the waters.
Originally from Enugu, Nigeria, Cyril moved to Chattanooga, Tenn. in 2021 and played at Hamilton Heights for one season. For the last two seasons, he played at Overtime. During his time at OTE, he made a huge impact on the defensive end, being named the Defensive Player of the Year after his first season in the league and averaging 3.2 blocks per game through two seasons.
Cyril is ranked a four-star prospect and joins five-star forward Asa Newell of Montverde (FL) Aaademy in Georgia’s 2024 class.
Mike White’s team also adds former Mount Saint Mary’s guard Dakota Leffew, Appalachian State transfer forward Justin Abson and Mount Saint Mary’s transfer guard De’Shayne Montgomery.
