Georgia head coach Kirby Smart set out to send a message to the College Football Playoff that they should not have been snubbed this year. But doing so came at the cost of beating down a Florida State that was woefully undermanned in today’s Orange Bowl and he has sympathy for the team he just beat.
Speaking to the media after the game, Smart addressed the claim that Florida State was not playing their best football because so many players entered the transfer portal after the Seminoles were left out of the College Football Playoff.
Smart said that the powers that be need to do a better job of figuring out what they want bowl game season to be since there will still be bowl games that teams decide are not worth playing if they’re not competing for the national title. To that end, he hopes that they can fix it.
“People need to see what happened tonight, and they need to fix it… It’s really unfortunate for the guys on that (Florida State) sideline who had to play in that game when they didn’t have their full arsenal,” Smart said.
Georgia won the game 63-3 – the largest margin of victory in a bowl game ever.

Big changes are coming to the College Football Playoff next year, but he might be onto something when he says that issues will still remain.
Will bowl season undergo major changes in the future to avoid this problem?
