Going into Saturday’s action, Kirk Herbstreit had the Michigan Wolverines as his best team in the country. But after Week 9’s performance, the “College GameDay” analyst had to make an amendment to his rankings.
Taking to Twitter over the weekend, Herbie shared his updated thoughts; which now has two programs atop the list. Tweeted Herbstreit:
“My top 4 AFTER week 9 … 1a-Michigan (most consistent), 1b-Georgia (best they’ve looked all year), 3-Ohio State (impressive resume and defense), 4-Florida State Oklahoma loss helps Noles down the road).”

Herbsreit also noted that he had Washington and Oregon as his next two teams. Saying of the Huskies, they “need to regain their momentum from a couple weeks ago at [USC] Saturday.” And that he “loves” the Ducks and they control their own destiny to a Pac-12 title and playoff bid.
There hasn’t really been a team this year that’s run away with anything outside of Michigan, but many have questions about their schedule (among other things).
All four teams in Herbie’s top 4 remain undefeated and should be jockeying for playoff position throughout the rest of the year.
