NFL Head Coach ‘Jealous’ Of Kirby Smart’s Success At Georgia

June 26, 2024 by The Spun

With two national titles and seven straight top 10 finishes on his resume, Kirby Smart is one of the most successful coaches at any sport, at any level, in the United States. That might be causing just a hint of jealousy for one NFL head coach.

Speaking to the media this week, Atlanta Falcons head coach Raheem Morris was asked about his relationship with the other top football coach from the state of Georgia. Morris admitted that the relationship is “jealousy” because he wants to win some championships like Smart and the Bulldogs are.

“Jealously is my relationship with Kirby Smart,” Morris said, via 247Sports. “Let’s go win some championships like that guy. They’ve done nothing but formulate a great program.”

But Smart made it clear that he enjoys watching Georgia play and plans on being a Bulldogs fan now that he’s living in the Peach State again.

“Again, it starts with the people. Just watching him win championships. It’s been fun to see. It’s been fun to see the acquisition of great talent coming out of Georgia. I know where I live now is a big Georgia contingency. I’ve got to get my Bulldog hats and support what those guys are doing.”

In eight years with the Bulldogs, Kirby Smart has gone 94-16 with seven bowl wins and back-to-back national titles in 2021 and 2022. His team has never finished worse than second in the SEC East and has reached the SEC Championship Game six times.

That’s the kind of success that any NFL head coach would love to replicate.
