SEC Media Days gets cranked up in Atlanta this morning, signaling the unofficial kickoff to the season for college football’s premier conference.
As opposed to years past there aren’t any new schools joining the lineup. In a truly bizarre departure from custom, there aren’t even any new head coaches in the league. That doesn’t mean there’s nothing to talk about, however.
Things get started this morning at 10:25 with LSU head coach Brian Kelly, whose Tigers are coming off a 9-4 season capped by a Texas Bowl win over Baylor. He’ll be joined by LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, a popular pick for the Heisman Trophy.
At 11:45 South Carolina’s contingent led by coach Shane Beamer will take the stage, followed at 1:30 by the Ole Miss contingent. Will Lane Kiffin be asked about Hugh Freeze’s golf game? Probably. Will he answer? It’s Lane Kiffin, of course he will.
The day’s festivities conclude with Vanderbilt and Coach Clark Lea, fresh off a surprising 7-6 2024 campaign. Lea may be good for some thoughts on the House settlement agreement and transfer portal given Vanderbilt’s somewhat unique situation in the SEC firmament.
This thread will be updated with any interesting items from the day’s session, and probably some petty barbs at our SEC brethren. Because even bloggers have to knock off the cobwebs, you know?
Go ‘Dawgs!!!
