Dawgs keep choppin’ on ESD

The Georgia Bulldogs put together another excellent Early Signing Day, with multiple big-time recruits holding true to their commitments and signing with the Dawgs. The biggest story regarding Georgia recruiting heading into Wednesday morning was whether four-star quarterback commit Ryan Montgomery would flip to the Florida Gators. The Gators have been very hot on the recruiting trail in the last few weeks, flipping multiple recruits from big-time programs, and Montgomery was rumored to be next. Fortunately for the Dawgs, Montgomery stayed true to Georgia, putting pen to paper as the 6’3, 215-pound quarterback will soon join the Dawgs QB room.

Multiple top defensive recruits also put pen to paper for the Dawgs. Five-star recruits Elijah Griffin, Isaiah Gibson, and Zayden Walker signed with Georgia. Justus Terry, a former Georgia and USC commit and current five-star defensive lineman, has pushed his signing date back to December 6th. Georgia, Texas, Alabama, and Auburn are all in the mix to land the highly touted Terry. If Terry chooses to sign with the Dawgs, it will cap off another excellent class of defenders.

Big-name QBs plan to enter Transfer Portal

The NCAA transfer portal is already off to a hot start. Multiple big-name players have already made known their intent to enter the portal when it opens on December 9th. A lot of those big names happen to be at the quarterback position. USC quarterback Miller Moss, Liberty quarterback Kaidon Salter, and Oklahoma quarterback Jackson Arnold all plan to find a new home for next fall.

Moss has spent his first season as the starting quarterback for the Trojans this season, waiting his turn for four years behind Jaxson Dart and Caleb Williams. Moss threw for 2,555 yards and 18 touchdowns with six interceptions this season before recently losing his starting job to Jayden Maiava. Michigan, Missouri, Louisville, and Iowa are all in play for Moss as of right now.

As for Kaidon Salter, he is a guy who has a lot of upside at the quarterback position, as the dual-threat quarterback was a hot commodity in the portal last season before choosing to stick with the Flames for the 2024 season. Salter has experienced a bit of a falloff this season, throwing for 1,886 yards and 15 touchdowns with six interceptions while adding 587 on the ground. Auburn, Syracuse, North Carolina, and Kentucky are all in play for Salter.

Last but not least is Oklahoma quarterback Jackson Arnold. Arnold was a very highly touted recruit coming out of high school, earning the number one ranking for a quarterback recruit in the 2023 class. Arnold has yet to live up to expectations in Norman, throwing for 1,984 yards with 16 touchdowns and six interceptions while rushing for 560 yards and four touchdowns in his two seasons with the Sooners. It is unknown who is in the race to land Arnold, but whoever does get him is getting a quarterback with still a lot of untapped potential.

That is all for this Thursday’s edition of ‘Dawg Bites. As always, GO DAWGS!!!
