Today’s Georgia-Kentucky Game Went Down To The Wire…

The No. 1 ranked Georgia Bulldogs entered today’s game at Kroger Field in Lexington, Kentucky as 21.5 point favorites over the Kentucky Wildcats. They left looking significantly less like a national championship favorite.

The first half of that game was one of the worst that we’ve seen from Georgia in a game against any opponent in a very long time. They were held to just 65 yards, five first downs and a mere three points as the Wildcats led them 6-3 at the break.

Kentucky extended their lead to 9-3 on the opening drive of the third quarter, but then the Bulldogs started to put some sustained drives together. After scoring a field goal to make the game 9-6, they scored a touchdown early in the fourth quarter to take a 13-9 lead.

The Wildcats pulled the game within a point with a field goal on their next drive, but the Bulldogs were able to do just enough to avoid the upset and take a 13-12 victory out of Lexington.

Today’s game against the Wildcats marked the first time in what feels like years where the Bulldogs didn’t look exceptional. Even in the only two losses they’ve suffered since 2021 – both against Alabama in the SEC Championship Game – they held their own for most of it and looked like they were the second-best team in the country at worst.

With many top contenders still undefeated, there’s a very real possibility that Georgia are dethroned as the No. 1 team in the nation, likely at the hands of one of their SEC rivals.

Will Georgia still be the No. 1 team in the nation next week?
