The NFL Draft process has moved beyond the Scouting Combine and into Pro Day season.
The University of Georgia is holding their annual Pro Day today, and while there will be plenty of talent working out, two of the Bulldogs’ biggest prospects will apparently be sitting out.
Tight end Brock Bowers and offensive lineman Amarius Mims will not participate as both are dealing with hamstring issues, though they will both hold a separate workout for NFL teams on April 10, according to ESPN’s Jordan Reid.
Overall, Bowers and Mims’ draft stocks remain high, so they don’t need to show out today in order to impress teams. Both players are projected first round picks next month, with Bowers being the top player at his position.
In his latest mock draft, released last week, Reid had Bowers being chosen by the Los Angeles Chargers with the ninth overall pick.
“Bowers would give Justin Herbert top-tier receiving option. He’s a mismatch all over the field with great run-after-catch ability, and he could be a real focal point of the L.A. offense going forward,” Reid wrote.
Additionally, Reid projects Mims will come off the board at No. 20 to the Pittsburgh Steelers. If that happens, he would be the second straight Georgia offensive lineman the Steelers selected in the first round.
They previously traded up to take Bulldogs offensive tackle Broderick Jones last April.
