After getting blown out by South Carolina last week, the Kentucky Wildcats were widely written off for the entire season and College GameDay even nixed plans to have their show in Lexington for today’s game against the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs.
But midway through the game, that’s proving to be a major mistake.
At halftime of the Kentucky-Georgia game, the Wildcats have shocked the world by leading the Bulldogs by a score of 6-3. Kentucky’s defense has made Georgia’s offense look absolutely terrible, limiting them to just three first downs and 63 yards of offense for the entire half.
If Kentucky weren’t similarly struggling to move the ball on the ground and through the air, their lead might be significantly wider. But for the time being, the Wildcats have to pleased to simply be leading.

Kentucky entered this game as 21.5-point underdogs to Georgia and for good reason. The Wildcats have lost seven straight games to the Bulldogs by double digits are lost to South Carolina by 25 points last week.
Georgia have been riding a 14-year winning streak against Kentucky. And they haven’t tasted defeat in Lexington since all the way back in 2006.
It goes without saying that a Kentucky win in this game would go down as one of the biggest regular season upsets that the SEC has seen in ages. It would certainly be one of the biggest in the history of Kentucky football.
But a lot can happen in 30 minutes of college football.
One thing is for sure: This game is not the blowout that most people were anticipating.
