You’ve previewed the course, some storylines, and of course the former ‘Dawgs in the field. Now we’ll help you watch it and give you the best viewing windows.
NBC or whatever big eastern syndicate has the rights to the US Open, thankfully rescuing it from Fox, and they will use their various properties and services to air the tournament.
USA Network, which I last purposefully watched in 1987 to catch “Night Flight”, will take the early shift weekday burden. Starting with the first tee times at 6:30 am ET Thursday through 5:00 pm. For those still playing after 5:00, you will have to stream it through Peacock.
In a not confusing move whatsoever, Friday will have the same full day coverage but only streamed on Peacock from 6:30 am through 5:00 pm. At least they drop the paywall curtain at 1:00 pm and let the main NBC network broadcast as well through 7:00 pm.
Saturday and Sunday are more straightforward, with USA televising at 10:00 am and 9:00 am respectively, stopping at noon where you will have to switch over to NBC for the remainder of the day’s golf.
Thursday and Friday also have Featured Group coverage, with a morning group and then an afternoon grouping. These are available at USGA.com and the USGA app. I don’t know how this app or website functions compared to the Masters, but I doubt you’ll get the same seamless experience.
The Bulldog tee times are sprinkled throughout the day, and I’ve listed them below with both the Thursday and Friday times.
6:30 am ET/12:30 pm Trent Phillips with Matt Vogt and Kevin Velo.
7:18 am/1:03 pm Harris English with Tommy Fleetwood and Keegan Bradley (good time to schmooze with the Ryder Cup captain)
8:02 am/1:47 pm Davis Thompson with Cam Davis and Thomas Detry
8:02 am/1:47 pm Brian Harman off #10 with Cam Smith and Phil Mickelson
12:30 pm/6:45 am Will Chandler with Andrea Pavan and Takumi Kanaya
1:03 pm/7:18 am Russell Henley with Christiaan Bezuidenhout and Nick Taylor
1:25 pm/7:40 am Sepp Straka with Tyrell Hatton and Sungjae Im
1:58 pm/8:13 am Chris Kirk with Tony Finau and Mackenzie Hughes
Some other groupings that might tickle one’s fancy:
7:40 a.m./1:25 p.m.: Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose, Shane Lowry
7:29 a.m./1:14 p.m.: Xander Schauffele, Jose Luis Ballester, Bryson DeChambeau
1:14 p.m./7:29 a.m.: Jordan Spieth, Jon Rahm, Dustin Johnson
1:25 p.m./7:40 a.m.: Scottie Scheffler, Collin Morikawa, Viktor Hovland
So there you go and I hope it helps. Thanks for checking in, and as always…
GO ‘DAWGS!!!
