The Falcons are fresh off a big win and looking to get back to .500, while the Jets are looking for a pulse and a prayer.
The Atlanta Falcons took their first step toward salvaging the 2023 season with a nine point win over the New Orleans Saints in Week 12, re-claiming the NFC South lead in the process. Now they have to keep that lead and show further growth in a road tilt with the New York Jets.
New York is not the toughest matchup Atlanta will face, but they are yet another team these Falcons can afford to take lightly. Boasting a ferocious pass rush and still-quality defense overall and with a small handful of dangerous playmakers, the Jets can punish a flat-footed team. With a return to .500 and a chance to widen their lead in the NFC South, the Falcons can’t be that flat-footed team.
Win here and we better start taking the prospect of a real playoff push seriously. Lose and we lapse back into familiar frustration. We know the stakes well at this point in a roller coaster season.
