It’s not much of an exaggeration to say that Justin Fields has underachieved and underperformed as starting quarterback of the Chicago Bears. But Colin Cowherd might have gone too far with a comparison he had for the Bears QB.
On today’s episode of The Herd, Cowherd made the case that the Bears could not get a first-round pick in exchange for Fields. But he also said that it’s partially because Fields is just a “more athletic Desmond Ridder” by comparing him to the Atlanta Falcons quarterback.
“Right now, he’s a more athletic Desmond Ridder,” Cowherd said.
That comment in particular earned the ire of fans who believe that he’s just trying to get under their skin by continuously criticizing Fields.

“This has to be for clicks lol. Can’t wait till the other players roast this dude,” one user replied.
“You can’t be serious,” wrote another.
“I don’t think Fields is very good, but this is a diabolical comparison to make,” a third wrote.
While Cowherd may have been statistically right as far as their passer numbers go, that seemed like a wildly inaccurate comparison to make.
