When it comes to tight ends catching the football, there’s good and there’s top-five good. Falcons rookie TE Kyle Pitts falls in the latter category. We’ve seen top-10 picks at the tight end position with good speed before — like Eric Ebron and Vernon Davis — but neither had the size that Pitts has coming into the league.
For Atlanta, a team with red-zone woes going back to 2017, adding a big-bodied receiving threat with 18 career touchdowns in 24 games makes a ton of sense. Matt Ryan is at his best with a skilled tight end that he can rely on. As Florida quarterback Kyle Trask can attest to, Pitts can be counted on.
Last year, Pitts averaged 17.9 yards per catch with 770 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns. His best game came against Mississippi, hauling in eight balls for 170 yards and four scores. The breakout performance included a 71-yard catch that highlighted the kind of weapon Pitts can be at the next level.
Check out all four of his touchdowns from Florida’s win over Ole Miss, as shared by the SEC Network’s Twitter account below.
