It’s a Monday, but we have Atlanta Falcons football this week! We get our first glimpse of Arthur Smith’s squad on Friday, so hold on to that bit of positivity as you peruse the links you might have missed from over the weekend.
DT Deadrin Senat waived
Ah, Deadrin Senat — we hardly knew ye. A 2018 third-round selection, Senat was never really given the opportunity to prove himself on Atlanta’s defense. He was notably inactive during the Falcons’ Thanksgiving game against the Saints in 2018, and it’s pr etty much been downhill ever since.
Deadrin Senat was waived with an injury designation, so there’s a shot he reverts to Atlanta’s IR list if he isn’t claimed, but it’s been an inauspicious start to the defender’s young career.
IT BEGINS
We’re nearly there, folks. The Falcons will play their first preseason game on Friday — against the Julio-Jones-led Titans, no less. As fate (and the schedulers) would have it, The Falcons will face off against the franchise’s best receiver on Friday.
Training camp happenings
After a week of Atlanta Falcons training camp in Flowery Branch, the squad headed to Mercedes-Benz Stadium for their last public practice of training camp.

The D-line is bad, per PFF
ProFootballFocus does not look highly on the Falcons’ defensive line entering the 2021 NFL season. In fact, they’ve got Atlanta ranked as the second-worst line in the whole dang league.
Bulletin board material? Possibly. But the Falcons clearly have work to do under Dean Pees’ new defensive scheme — especially in PFF’s eyes.
Dante Fowler byke
Defensive lineman and 2020 underperformer Dante Fowler just returned from the COVID-19 list. The high-priced free-agent acquisition’s roster spot is unclear, but he did agree to a pay cut for the paltry three sacks he cobbled together last year. So that’s something.
WR Jeff Badet waived
Ah, Jeff Badet — we hardly knew ye.
