LIINKS
Links of the Falcons variety? Yeah, we got those to start your Wednesday.
What we learned
What did we learn from Atlanta’s sloppy-yet-gritty road victory over New York? For starters, the defense appears capable of making stops in critical situations. It’s early, but that’s certainly an improvement from the last few seasons.
Youth movement
There was much consternation after the first two debacles to start the season, particularly focused on left guard Jalen Mayfield and punter Cameron Nizialek.
HC Arthur Smith elected to stick with both after their objectively terrible games — and he was rewarded in kind with solid performances against the Giants in Week 3.
Smith doesn’t appear afraid to cut it loose with the younger guys, and that could pay dividends moving forward.
Tips o’the cap & scratches o’the head
Sunday’s contest against the Giants was simultaneously infuriating and enlightening. This team was able to cobble together a road win in a game that they really had no business being in for the first three quarters.
With that, we roll out our hat tips & head-scratchers from Week 3.
