Monday is an off-day for the Falcons, and hopefully everyone will cool off before the pads go on Tuesday.
Good morning Falcoholics, and welcome to Monday, July 28, 2025. The Falcons are three practices into training camp, and we are 40 days away from the Falcons’ home opener against the Buccaneers on Sept. 7. (An earlier version of this story said we were 137 days away from the season opener because I am terribly bad at math and didn’t double-check Google’s answer.)
The Falcons are off today, but get excited, because the pads go on for Tuesday’s practice. Actually, I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing given how heated things got during practice on Sunday, but we’ll get to that in the links.
As always, use this comment section as today’s open thread. Have you made it up to Flowery Branch for an open practice this year? Tell us about it in the comments!
Moving on …
Falcons news
- As I mentioned previously, things got spicy at the Falcons’ Sunday practice. Rookie EDGE James Pearce Jr. got into it with both Matthew Bergeron and Kaleb McGary. – Marc Raimondi, ESPN
- Arthur Blank is optimistic about the upcoming season because of “proven youth” on the roster. He also set expectations for this season. – Tori McElheney, AtlantaFalcons.com
“We’re looking — obviously — for a very competitive team, a very competitive season. We’d love to play our 17 games, plus. I say ‘plus’ because that’s the aspirations of the franchise.”
- Matt Ryan and his twins were at Falcons training camp on Sunday. Adorable.

Around the NFL
- I’m still in Ohio, so instead of being at training camp this weekend, I was watching NFL Network. I saw this clip and I legitimately laughed out loud. – Grace Tucker, Cincinnati Enquirer
- Terry McLaurin finally reported for Commanders camp. He was also placed on PUP due to his lingering ankle injury. – Bill Horgan, Hogs Haven
- Aaron Donald’s workout had Jared Verse ready to call the cops. Another clip that made me laugh out loud. – JP Acosta, SB Nation
ICYMI
- If you couldn’t make it to Flowery Branch this week, keep up with every angle of training camp with the excellent coverage from Adnan Ikic and Kevin Knight.
- And if you couldn’t make it to Kevin and Adnan’s live (literally) show this past weekend in Atlanta, catch up with that right here, too.
- Are you worried about Darnell Mooney’s injury? Let Tre’Shon Diaz ease your mind a little.
