The Atlanta Falcons placed veteran defensive lineman Eddie Goldman on the exempt/left squad list, the team announced on Saturday afternoon. Goldman, who was reinstated by the Falcons in March, was expected to provide key reps at the nose tackle position this season.
“The exempt/left squad list allows a team to open up a roster spot without formally releasing him,” Falcons digital editor Scott Bair explains. “Goldman can not sign with another team but can return to the Falcons.”

The 29-year-old originally signed with the Falcons in 2022 before retiring less than two weeks later. Goldman previously started 73 games for the Bears from 2015-2021, racking up 116 solo tackles, 21 QB hits and 13 sacks.
Atlanta has already added a replacement, signing veteran DT Justin Ellis on Saturday morning. The team also signed linebacker Kemoko Turay and released Dorian Etheridge.
