Before the Falcons cut down their roster, we’ll get a primetime look at the summer battles.
The Atlanta Falcons will cap off preseason this year with a backup-heavy battle against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and that game will be televised.
Per a recent announcement from the NFL Network, that Week 3 game will be carried live on NFL Network at 7 p.m. on August 23, a decision aimed at giving a national audience a chance to see Michael Penix in action.
NFL Network has announced we will carry 21 live preseason games, with a heavy emphasis on the rookie QBs (with three #Bears games).

The allure for the league and the network is definitely centered on Penix, who will likely play a significant part of the game as the likely starter with Kirk Cousins in mothballs until the regular season. For Falcons fans, it will be a last chance to see the 90 man roster in action, with the settling of final roster battles likely on the line for what otherwise will likely be a long, sloppy game.
It’s yet another quote-unquote primetime game for the Falcons, who have four during the regular season after getting exactly zero the previous two seasons. Mark it on your calendar as the final step before the Falcons winnow down their roster and deliver us what we hope is a season worth remembering.
