The Falcons health report for Thursday, Sept. 23
We’re moving along in the week as the Atlanta Falcons continue to prepare for this weekend’s NFC matchup with the New York Giants. On Wednesday, we saw that wide receiver Russell Gage and corner A.J. Terrell, who both left Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with injuries, were sidelined in practice. It’s a new day, but the team’s health remains the same.
You can expect to see the practice reports here every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, except for when the Falcons play on Thursday night or have a bye week. The Friday report will include both team’s injury statuses, giving the best outlook on what to expect for that week’s game.
Thursday’s official practice report:
FULL PARTICIPATION
- N/A
LIMITED PARTICIPATION
- N/A
NO PARTICIPATION
- WR Russell Gage (ankle)
- WR Frank Darby (calf)
- CB A.J. Terrell (concussion)
As you can see, the injury report remained the same on Thursday. Gage continues to miss time with an ankle injury and is “week-to-week.” He’s likely a long shot to suit up on Sunday, which leaves Atlanta with a depleted receiver group.
A.J. Terrell is recovering from a concussion, one which caused him to leave Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. There’s no timetable for Terrell’s return due to the type of injury, but hopefully he gets better soon because the Falcons need him. Also, rookie wide receiver Frank Darby, who has yet to play in a game, remains absent with a lingering calf issue.
On the Giants side, notable players such as running back Saquon Barkley, wide receiver Kenny Golladay and corner Logan Ryan were limited in the second straight practice. Linebacker Cam Brown was the lone Giants’ player to miss practice on Thursday as he deals with a hamstring injury.
The Falcons and Giants will have their final practices of the week on Friday, providing us with the best outlook on the health of both team’s heading into Sunday.
