The Falcons hosted four free agents for tryouts on Monday and wound up signing Cameron Nizialek.

Training camp is officially underway as we quickly approach the start of the 2021 NFL regular season. With that, you can expect to always see team’s trying out free agents to see if they can add competition to the roster.

On Monday, the Atlanta Falcons reportedly brought in wide receiver Jonathan Adams, and punters Cameron Nizialek, Matt Wile and Colby Wadman for work outs. As we know this morning, Sterling Hofrichter was waived with an injury designation and the team added Nizialek out of that group of punters.

The lone wide receiver who tried out for the team on Monday was Adams, who was waived by the Detroit Lions on June 18, 2021 went undrafted in 2021. At Arkansas State, Adams was named the 2020 Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Year and was top-5 nationally in receptions (3rd), yards (5th) and touchdowns (T-3rd). Adams was additionally a semifinalist for the Biletnikoff Award and received invites to the NFL Combine, Hula Bowl, the East-West Shrine Game.

If Wile and Nizialek sound familiar, it’s because they have crossed paths with the Falcons previously. Wile had two previous stints with the team, once in 2016 and another during the 2019 where he subbed in for the then injured Matt Bosher. Nizialek was signed to the Falcons practice squad in 2020 before being cut in October of that year. Wadman arguably has the most experience punting in the NFL of the three, as he has recorded 143 total punts, averaging 44.5 yards per punt. In the end, the Falcons went with Nizialek, but Wile and Wadman may be names worth remembering if Maggio and Nizialek don’t impress the Falcons coaching staff.
