Inside Scoop: Falcons Blockbuster Trade Could Come Soon

August 28, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

As rumors continue to spread throughout the league, the Atlanta Falcons may finally trade away tight end Kyle Pitts, but it may take a little longer. Pitts has been the subject of trade rumors this entire offseason, and one source wouldn’t be surprised if the tight end is in a new uniform to end the 2025 campaign. Originally selected as a first-round pick, the former Florida product is aiming to play out his final season with the Falcons. He has an expiring contract, and there haven’t been any negotiations this past offseason, so that tells you many things.

However, this could signal that the Falcons don’t see him in their plans. The tight end had a promising rookie season in 2021, recording 68 receptions for 1,026 receiving yards and a touchdown. Unfortunately, an injury in the following season slowed down his production on the field, and he hasn’t been the same since. Pitts is heading in a downward trend, but it shouldn’t disrupt his trade value as he’s healthy as of now.

As long as the Falcons can keep him that way, and if they endure another depleting season, they could trade him and rebuild their tight end room. After the team got contacted by multiple potential suitors for Pitts, there wasn’t anything serious. Atlanta wants at least a day two pick to pick up the talks, so here are three teams that might be willing to do that during the 2025 regular season.

Best Fits

Los Angeles Chargers

Quarterback Justin Herbert thrives in football when throwing it to his tight ends. This is why they got Tyler Conklin this offseason to help Will Dissly in the aerial attack. While Jim Harbaugh wants to run the football more than 50% of the time, he can’t ignore making sure that Herbert is comfortable throwing the football in the right situations. Pitts doesn’t need to start right away on this offense, but when you still have some question marks in the receiver core group, it’s better to upgrade another unit in the meantime.

Baltimore Ravens

Meanwhile, the Baltimore Ravens were supposed to be without Isaiah Likely for a few weeks, but it looks like they will get him back early in the 2025 campaign. Either way, the Ravens were trying to move on from veteran Mark Andrews this offseason since he’s entering the final year of his current contract. He’s on track to play it out similarly to Pitts, but you never know what might happen here. Andrews is on thin ice either way this upcoming season, and someone like Pitts could drastically improve this tight end unit.

When you get Pitts to pair with Likely, this should put the Ravens from phenomenal to ferocious.

Washington Commanders

Despite signing Zach Ertz to a one-year extension this offseason, the Washington Commanders must start thinking about the future of this offensive tight end unit. They extended John Bates for backup, but he’s more of a pass blocker. When Ertz eventually retires, they’re going to need a replacement sooner than later, and they should roll the dice on Pitts.
