Former Dallas Cowboys star Michael Irvin is amped up about the contracts being signed in the legal tampering window.
Early on Tuesday morning, Irvin posted a video of him raving about the Kirk Cousins signing.
Cousins and the Atlanta Falcons have agreed to terms on a four-year, $180 million deal. The contract includes $100 million guaranteed.
Irvin is confident that Cousins will turn the Falcons into a division winner as early as next season.
“Watch this now. Watch this season. Right now, I’m going to give you the early statement. The NFC South winner [will be] the Falcons,” Irvin said. “They’re taking over Tampa Bay, even though Tampa did sign back Baker Mayfield. They split last year with Tampa. They’ll beat Tampa this year. I’m taking the Falcons to win the [NFC] South. Take it right now if you’re smart.”
Cousins will replace Desmond Ridder as the starting quarterback for the Falcons. We can’t stress enough how huge of an upgrade that is.
Prior to suffering a season-ending Achilles injury last October, the Vikings were playing at a high level mainly because of Cousins. In eight starts, he completed 69.5 percent of his passes for 2,331 yards with 18 touchdowns and five interceptions.
If Cousins returns to that form, Atlanta will be a legitimate threat because of its offensive weapons. The roster currently features Drake London, Bijan Robinson, Kyle Pitts and Darnell Mooney.
