Report: Jim Harbaugh Had In-Person Interview With NFL Owner

There are at least two NFL teams making a serious push for Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh this offseason.

Last week, it was reported that Harbaugh would meet with the Los Angeles Chargers. On Tuesday night, the Atlanta Falcons announced that Harbaugh met with them to discuss their head-coaching vacancy.

While on NFL Network’s “Total Access” this Wednesday, Ian Rapoport provided an update on Harbaugh’s meeting with the Falcons.

Harbaugh reportedly had an in-person interview with Falcons owner Arthur Blank.

The Falcons have a plethora of offensive playmakers, such as Bijan Robinson, Kyle Pitts, Drake London and Tyler Allgeier. What they’re missing is a coach who can properly utilize them. That’s where Harbaugh comes in.

It’s worth noting that Harbaugh has a huge advantage over other popular coaching candidates. He can meet with teams whenever he wants.

“Unlike current NFL assistant coaches — who are barred from interviewing in-person for head coaching jobs until the conclusion of divisional playoff games on Jan. 21 — Harbaugh is free to speak with NFL teams immediately. Big game on Monday, and some big decisions thereafter,” NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero said.

Harbaugh isn’t the only high-profile coach on Atlanta’s radar. Earlier this week, the front office spoke with former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick.
