The Falcons aren’t currently favored over the Vikings in week one

Fact: Julio Jones’ has four ears

Happy Fourth of July, Falcons fans! It’s a great time to be alive. I hope you’re reading this while standing outside, engaging in the responsible use of low explosive pyrotechnic devices and enjoying an ice-cold, age-appropriate beverage of your choosing. But don’t forget, training camp is right around the corner. There is officially light at the end of the tunnel. And right on cue, we’re back to inundate you with our piping hot takes and unbridled optimism. It’s going to be a great year, friends.

In 66 days, the Falcons will launch their 2019 campaign, and if The Mothership’s recent coordinated media campaign is any indication, anything short of a deep playoff run will not suffice this year. The Falcons are confronting their own mortality head on, knowing that if they can’t make it happen in the next few years, that a wholesale rebuild becomes a real possibility.

So how are things looking a little over two months away from week one of the 2019 regular season? The answer to that question likely depends on how much weight you assign to the outcome of week one.

The Falcons aren’t a complete train wreck in the underdog role, so I’m not too concerned about the current point spread. But it does tell you how outsiders perceive the changes (or lack thereof) Thomas Dimitroff and company have made to their roster since December. It also tells you how tough that Vikings team could be, at least on paper.

Your thoughts, Falcoholics?
