Who did the Patriots take with the Falcons pick for Matthew Judon?

After an injury-plagued 2023 season, the New England Patriots shipped pass rusher Matthew Judon to the Atlanta Falcons in the midst of New England’s rebuild in August of 2024.

Now the Falcons are down one third-round pick and the 32-year-old is a free agent.

Let’s take a look at the trade now that it’s completed.

Original terms of the Matthew Judon trade

Falcons receive: Matthew Judon
Patriots receive: 2025 third-round pick

One the 2025 NFL Draft order was determined, the pick slots in at No. 77 overall.

How did Matthew Judon play for the Falcons after his trade?

Without the benefit of training camp and coming off a torn bicep, Judon didn’t return to double-digit sacks but he had a decent season for Atlanta. He played 17 games with a highlight-reel interception return for a touchdown, 5.5 sacks, 41 tackles, and five passes defended playing about 60% of the defensive snaps.

Who did the Patriots add with the picks from the Matthew Judon trade?

When they went on the clock, the Patriots traded the pick to the Panthers to select Ole Miss EDGE rusher Prince Umanmielen. The Patriots got back picks 85 and 146. They they traded pick 85 for 95 and a 2026 fourth-round pick. So we can’t close it out this year.

At 95, the Patriots selected Georgia center Jared Wilson.
