The Atlanta Falcons are on the verge of a full rebuild and may have to start that rebuild with a young quarterback. That has led to increased rumblings that a blockbuster trade involving Matt Ryan is in the works.
According to Arizona Cardinals insider Johnny Venerable, there are “rumblings” that the Indianapolis Colts may “sell out” to try and acquire Ryan. Such a move could happen as quickly as today.
The Colts have been linked to a number of starting quarterbacks since making the Wentz trade. Most recently, they’ve been named as the preferred team for embattled Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield.
Ryan will be 37 when the 2022 NFL season starts, but he’s playing at roughly the same level as he has for the last five years (for better or worse). For a Colts team seemingly built to win now, that could go a long way towards making a blockbuster trade a reality.
Rumblings that the Colts may sell out to get Matt Ryan today. That would be wild.

Matt Ryan ranks in the top 10 for every major passing category in NFL history. He’s a model of durability too, missing only three games in 14 NFL seasons.
2021 wasn’t exactly the best year of his career though. Despite playing all 17 games, he still had some of the lowest numbers of his career.
He was still pretty good though, passing for just under 4,000 yards and 20 touchdowns. But he isn’t exactly playing at his former Pro Bowl or MVP level these days.
Should the Colts try and make a blockbuster trade for Matt Ryan?
